Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phoenix 12/5-12/11

 

 

We’re officially into December – and we’re excited. The weather just keeps getting nicer and there are tons of amazing events to look forward to in the upcoming week. See what we’ve found for you to put in your calendar!

Wednesday, December 5

– If you’re getting tired of dating apps, you can hang out with the #PHXFray crew and try your hand at old-school speed dating over at Two Brothers from 7 to 10pm. Those attending will enjoy an extended happy hour and a chance at raffle prizes. The cost is $25 and limited spots remain, so make sure you register here.

– Head over to Valley Bar for a great show. Myrlin Hepworth is a poet and hip-hop artist who was named as Arizona Humanity’s Council’s Rising Star Award for his work as a youth advocate. He was featured on NPR’s Alt Latino podcast. The show starts at 7pm and tickets start at $10.

Thursday, December 6

– Peoria Artisan Brewery brings you a night of $0.25 wings beginning at 11am when they open until closing time at 9pm. The purchase of a regular priced menu item or an adult beverage qualifies you for the special. Get house buffalo, dry rub, or PAB hot. Dine in only.

– Get ready to laugh over at StandUp Live for a special “12 Comics of Christmas” special that is guaranteed to be entertaining. The venue will be donating dinner boxes to families in need as well. Tickets are $15 and the event starts at 7:30pm.

Friday, December 7

– Enjoy the Phoenix Art Museum for free as a part of the First Friday Arts Market. From 6-10pm, you can view the numerous works of art as they open to the public (with voluntary donation admission).

– The Phoenix Symphony is hosting a Cirque Holiday Spectacular, welcoming back Troupe Vertigo who combine gravity-defying acts with holiday musical favorites. The show starts at 7:30pm and tickets range from $25-125.

Saturday, December 8

– The Downtown Phoenix Record Show is taking place at Crescent Ballroom from 9am-3pm, where you can browse tons of vinyl for sale. Enjoy raffles, live music, and food. $3 admission.

– World Bazaar Phoenix is taking place on 19th Ave and Camelback, bringing over 50 vendors selling food, goods, art, and more from around the world. Enjoy different cultures with live music and dance performances. Admission is free!

Sunday, December 9

Photo Cred: AZ Central

– It’s time for the 16th annual Food City Tamale Festival taking place in Downtown Phoenix. There will be live entertainment as well. Admission to the event is free and it runs from 10am-6pm.

– Celebrate with students and faculty of the Pipers Writer Studio at ASU with a showcase of readings of various genres. The event takes place from 1-3pm and is free.

Monday, December 10

– Enjoy a pop-up holiday shop over at Spoonz Café. It’s a great way to grab a bite to eat and get some last-minute shopping done. The vendor will be set up from 7:30am-2pm.

– Changing Hands in Phoenix is hosting their monthly Drink and Draw night which will feature a local model posing. The cost is $8 per person, and you need to bring your own supplies. Takes place from 6:30-9:30pm.

Tuesday, December 11

– It’s “Psycho Day” at FilmBar with a showing of the classic movie. The showing starts at 7pm and costs $12. The event also features a lecture about the influence the film had on modern cinema.  

– South Mountain Community College is bringing their Latin Jazz band to The Nash for a night of jamming. The result is a passionate and exciting performance. Tickets are $15 or $5 for students with ID; runs from 7:30-10pm.
