The Odelay, Four Peaks Brewing

No list of local beers is complete without Four Peaks. Beer lovers have lofty expectations when it comes to Four Peaks Brewing, thanks to their wide array of beers and their signature Kilt Lifter Scottish-style ale. Thankfully, their winter seasonal, the Odelay, doesn’t disappoint.

The Odelay draws its inspiration from the beloved Hispanic foods of Phoenix, putting a southwestern spin on the winter beer trend. Made with cacao powder, cinnamon, allspice, and dried pasilla chilies, this beer feels more at home in a Mexican restaurant than a craft brewery. This malty, spicy brew is like a Mexican hot chocolate….and we’re all for it. It’s available at all Four Peaks locations and at beer retailers statewide starting in mid-December.

SanTan Brewing may be famous for its fall seasonal Oktoberfest, but don’t sleep on the winter seasonal: Sex Panther. Don’t let the name fool you, Anchorman fans. This product is far superior to Brian Fantana’s ultra-pungent cologne. It’s a double chocolate porter made with cocoa and chocolate malt. The touch of white wheat gives it a creamy head that guarantees this porter goes down smooth. You can try this 6.9% ABV at the Chandler location and local retailers from November to January. 60% of the time, it works every time.

The Husstler Series, Huss Brewing

Huss may be the new kid on the block, but there’s no denying that this brewery creates some seriously delicious beers. Its flagship beer, the Scottsdale Blonde, has quickly become a staple of the local beer scene. Huss Brewing’s winter seasonal is the Husstler Series, an award-winning milk stout perfect for a cold January night. There’s no doubt that this malty beverage, crafted with flaked oats and milk sugars, is perfect for the holiday season. You can find it at the Tempe or Uptown Phoenix taproom as well as at local stores, bars, and restaurants.

Barkley’s Peanut Butter Cup Porter

Winter is the time to enjoy sweets. If you’re looking to indulge your sweet tooth, you might want to try Barkley’s Peanut Butter Cup porter. This dark and decadent beer comes from Uncle Bear’s Brewery in Ahwatukee. The 5.4% ABV American porter tastes like all your favorite holiday treats, like chocolate and peanut butter. This wintery brew is available on draft year round at Barkley’s three Valley locations. You can also purchase six-pack cans to enjoy a taste of winter right at home.
