There are tons of spots to grab a quick cup of coffee in the Phoenix area, sure. But why settle for a mediocre cup from a fast food chain when there are plenty of high quality, unique options available in the area? If you’re in need of a new spot, have no fear: We’re here with a roundup of five of the most unique, interesting and exciting coffee shops around.

Fillmore Coffee

Fillmore’s owner Tristan Davies owes a debt of gratitude to his homeland of Australia for instilling a deep love for high quality coffee at an early age, well before he relocated to Phoenix. He opened the shop in 2016 with an eye towards community-building and vibe-setting in addition to crafting a great cup of java. Their “come as you are” attitude and unpretentious love for bean juice helped them become one of the most loved spots in town. Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Saturday + Sunday 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. 600 N 4th St. Phoenix, AZ; fillmorecoffeeco.com // @fillmorecoffeeco

Valentine

A coffee shop and cocktail bar with killer pastries as well as brunch and dinner options, Valentine is a favorite among Valley foodies looking for a quick bite or a place to spread out and get some work done for a few hours. They offer a handful of specialty drinks, like a cacao cold brew, a desert honey macchiato made with bee pollen and honey cream and a totally unique and surprisingly delicious squash latte. Attached to a vintage furniture store specializing in stylish mid-century modern pieces, you might just leave the shop with a killer new piece for your home in addition to a cup of coffee. Wednesday through Sunday 7 a.m. – 2 a.m. 4130 N 7th Ave. Phoenix, AZ; valentinephx.com // @valentine_phx

Peixoto Coffee Roasters

Serving coffee brewed from beans imported from The Peixoto Family Farm in Mines Gerais, Brazil, owned and operated by shop owner Julia Peixoto Peters’ family, Peixoto’s two locations, the flagship in Chandler and a newer spot in Gilbert’s Epicenter at Agritopia are the platonic ideal of effortless coffee shop cool, with modern touches and industrial grit making it a cool and cozy spot to grab a delicious beverage when you’re in the area. 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Multiple locations. peixotocoffee.com // @peixotocoffee

Fourtilfour Café

Opened in 2015 with the goal of bringing a simple and back-to-basics approach of the third wave coffee ethos, Fourtilfour has become a go-to spot for folks in Scottsdale looking for a quick, perfectly prepared caffeine fix. An intimate bare-bones space, found in a converted garage space in the Old Town neighborhood, we recommend enjoying your drink in their lush patio and garden space, featuring plenty of shaded seating. They’ve recently expanded westward, with a new location in Encinitas, California that opened in 2022. 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. 7105 E 1st Ave. Scottsdale, AZ; fourtillfour.com // @fourtillfour
