Weekly Wins: Things to Do in Phx 7/4 – 7/10

 

 

Another week of triple digit temps is upon us, Phoenix – but The Valley doesn’t stop for weather and the fun events carry on as we roll into America’s birthday week.  

Whether you’re looking for a way to celebrate the fourth or fill up the rest of your week with fun things to do, we got you covered. Check out what this week has to offer and mark your calendar so you don’t forget.

Wednesday, July 4

– Peoria Sports Complex is hosting an “All-American Festival” which includes live entertainment, a cornhole tournament, food, beer, and of course, fireworks. General admission is $10 (parking is free), with several upgrade options if you want a meal or better view. The fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 pm.

– If you’re looking for something a little different to do this fourth, check out the “Fourth of Zooly” hosted by the Phoenix Zoo from 7pm-10pm. Tickets are $45 for adults, which include a catered bbq dinner, access to Stingray Bay, live music and entertainment, and of course, fireworks, starting at 9 pm.

Thursday, July 5

 Participate in a free-flow yoga class on the lawn at Mountain Shadows. This offers a great view of Camelback and Mummy mountains, and afterward, you can enjoy select $5 wines. Takes place from 6:30-7: 30 pm, no charge.

– Enjoy 3 of the Best B’s – Brews, Blues, and BBQ – at Harold’s Corral in Cave Creek. All-you-can-eat BBQ specials start at 4 pm, there’s $1 off select pints, and live music by the Arizona Blues Project from 8pm-11pm.

Friday, July 6

Take a tour of the Four Peaks Wilson St. Brewery, the largest production brewery in Arizona. Each tour gives you a behind the scenes look at the facility, and a free pint at the end. Free to register and takes place from 6-7pm.

– It’s Frida Kahlo’s birthday, so join the celebration at the AquaNight Club in McDowell, hosted by The Phoenix Fridas! There will be a contest for the biggest Frida Flower crown, Latin dance tunes, Frida inspired cocktails and more. $7 cover charge, 21 and up.

Saturday, July 7

Popular DJ Diplo takes the stage at the Talking Stick Resort Pool from 12-6pm for an epic day of beats by the pool. Tickets are $45.

– Hang out at the Found: RE Phoenix hotel for a Vive Pool Party (part of their summer series) taking place from 10:30am-5: 30 pm. The party includes drink specials like bottomless mimosas and snowcone cocktails and features a live DJ, plus drag queens. No cover.

– Join the Art House Gilbert for a “State of AZ” watercolor class from 3-5pm. Experts will guide you to create a work of art in a relaxing environment. Cost is $45.

Sunday, July 8

– Join the crowd at Rips Bar with their “Huge Mighty Jam Session” taking place from 4pm-8pm. Anyone who dances, sings, plays an instrument, etc. is welcome to come down and take advantage of the sound system and equipment provided by the bar. Of course, you can just hang out and watch, too. No cover.

– Soccer fans can come together to watch the World Cup at Rula Bula Irish Pub in Tempe. Catch the game on their projector screen and enjoy food and drink specials from 11am-3pm.

Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles Yellow Submarine at FilmBar. There will be giveaways for those in the best psychedelic costumes. The show starts at 8 pm, tickets are $12.

Monday, July 9

– Local Phoenix indie rock band Jared & The Mill is coming to Crescent Ballroom to record a live music video that you can participate in for free, starting at 5 pm. Of course, they’ll be performing some songs before the video shoot.

– Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix is hosting their monthly Drink and Draw event, featuring a live model for inspiration. Bring your own supplies. Tickets are $8.

Tuesday, July 10

Catch a special showing of the iconic Jaws Film at various Harkins locations around the Valley.  Showings are at 7 pm, regardless of the theater you choose. Tickets are $5.

– Test your knowledge with a special “The Office Trivia Night” hosted by Jobot Coffee & Bar. Trivia is free, starting at 6 pm. Enjoy drink specials like $4 well drinks and $6 Jobot Beer Punch, among others.
