It’s August in Arizona, and with the new month comes new events to check out across the Valley that will help you stay active and social.

There’s a ton going on and plenty to keep you busy (while staying cool of course) – so check out what’s happening over the next 7 days!

Wednesday, August 1

– Head over to FilmBar for a showing of “Hearts Beat Loud” – a feel good movie about a father and daughter who share musical passion and become an Internet sensation. There are two showings you can catch – 5:30pm and 10:20pm. Tickets are $9.95.

– StandUp Live presents a “The Best of the Next” comedy show featuring some of the best comics from the Valley. Tickets are $10, and the show starts at 8pm.

Thursday, August 2

The Trunk Space is hosting a night of post-punk music with grunge trio ModPods and guests. The cost for the show is only $7 and all ages – it’s a great way to support the artists directly. Starts at 7pm.

– Valley Bar is hosting a night with Four Chambers Press for all literary enthusiasts. “Get Lit” includes conversation, community, and drinks. The free event starts at 7pm.

Friday, August 3

– Who doesn’t love a good dance party? Head over to the Van Buren for “Guilty Pleasures,” a night of DJs spinning hits from Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and much more. Tickets start at $6, and the event starts at 9pm.

– Electronic dubstep DJ Cade is making his debut at Maya Day and Nightclub for a night of music and good times starting at 10pm. No cover, just RSVP here.

Saturday, August 4

– Valley Bar brings DJENTRIFICATION spinning drum music and new rhythms from all over the world. Starts at 11pm and is free.

– Changing Hands Bookstore in Phoenix is presenting a Community Video Night, where submissions from the public will be collected and curated for the night. The event is free, but drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. It starts at 7pm.

Sunday, August 5

– The School of Rock Scottsdale presents a tribute to the White Stripes and the Black Keys from 12-1:30pm. After, stick around for a rock show put on by the students until 3pm. Tickets are $5.

Join an acrylic painting class hosted by Vino and Canvas at Terroir Wine Pub. The two-hour class is for all levels and all supplies are provided. $45 to join.

Monday, August 6

– The Crescent Ballroom hosts “Vibe Tonight!” – a night of sultry vibes and melodies. Enjoy guest Tindal Muzic who has performed all over the Valley, taking listeners on a journey through sound with love. The show starts at 8pm and is free.

Support the Diamondbacks as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies in the first of three games in the series. The game starts at 6:40pm, with tickets as low as $13.

Tuesday, Tuesday 7

– The Living Room at the Shops at Gainey Village is hosting a night of making flower arrangements that you can take home at the end of the night. Apart from the craft, there will be half off bruschetta boards and deals on drinks. Tickets are $65 and the event starts at 7pm.

The Cabin in Glendale is hosting a night of Trivia starting at 7pm, with over $50 in gift certificates up for grabs. Free to participate!
