The words summer and Phoenix go together synonymously, as the sun shines down lovingly on our state (almost too lovingly) and provides us with predictable cloudless skies day in and day out.

With the temps this high, you may be tempted to shut yourself indoors until October – but consider venturing out to these rooftop pools that will keep you cool and keep you from being a (complete) hermit during this summer season.

Lustre Rooftop Bar at Hotel Palomar

Hours: 11am-10pm S-T and 11am-12am Fridays and Saturdays

Summer in AZ equals two things: hot temperatures are here, and baseball season is in full swing. A rooftop pool that puts you right in the middle of everything is Lustre at the Hotel Palomar in Phoenix. Located right on Jefferson street, you are a short jaunt away from anything in the Downtown area, from dining options or comedy at Cityscape to Talking Stick Resort Arena or Chase Field. This relaxing rooftop offers a full-service bar and kitchen menu and has great views of the city, not to mention a sleek pool that you can lounge by and cool off in.

Wade Poolside Bar at The Camby

24 hours for hotel guests, 9am-6pm for non-guests

We love ourselves a good boutique hotel, and The Camby is no exception. The Wade Poolside Bar isn’t the largest place to swim in the valley, but the atmosphere screams luxury and the sundeck has plenty of places to sit. The retro meets modern furniture around the pool is to die for with a large gazebo providing plenty of shade. They take things up a notch by screening movies on the pool deck at night and offering yoga. Make the time to soak up the sun with a drink in hand at the Camby. Totally worth it.

Wet pool at W Scottsdale

If you’ve been in Phoenix for any amount of time, you’re probably familiar with the W Scottsdale. Their second story pool hosts some of the top parties in the state. The poolside features pretty of spots for lounging and cool architectural features to boot. The parties take place from Friday-Sunday, 12pm to 6pm and open to the public for a cover charge. While you have to be a guest to take advantage of the pool 24/7, we think the weekends are worth it alone if you don’t feel like booking a room (though they’re just as pretty as the pool).

Whatever rooftop pool you decide to venture to this season to beat the heat, you really can’t go wrong. All offer great places to relax while staying cool and enjoying food and drinks – you can’t ask for much more!
