Drink Up at these 4 Oktoberfests Around Phoenix

Nothing screams fall like Oktoberfest. And Phoenix knows how to celebrate. While the temperatures may not be conventionally “fall-like,” they are dropping enough around the Valley to make heading out to one of these events bearable. There are tons of festivals taking place from the end of September through the middle of October for you to check out. Here are some we recommend:

1. Pedal Haus Oktoberfest – Friday, October 4

730 South Mill Avenue #102

Pedal Haus Brewery in Tempe is hosting its own night of celebration that takes place before the “big festival” also in Tempe. There will be a stein holding competition as well as a sausage eating contest – and a live polka band will be performing throughout the evening. Enjoy festive Oktoberfest décor as well as special menu items, which include a German-style Bratwurst (of course) and a German-style pizza. Of course, festive attire is encouraged. Free entry.

2. Litchfield Park Oktoberfest – Saturday, October 5

The Wigwam, 300 E Wigwam Blvd

Adorn traditional Oktoberfest gear and head out to Litchfield Park for an Oktoberfest on the front lawn of the Wigwam. Prizes will be awarded to those with the best German outfits (in the male, female, and children’s categories). Along with the costume contest, there will be a DJ spinning music and a polka contest. There will even be giant lawn games! The $15 entry fee includes a souvenir stein for all advance ticket holders and while supplies last at the gate. Kids under 12 admitted free.

3. Four Peaks Oktoberfest – Friday-Sunday, October 11-13

Tempe Town Lake

The three-day Oktoberfest in Tempe hosted by Four Peaks Brewing is one of the most well-known celebrations in the state. You can find something for everyone throughout the days. Some of the activities include soccer and volleyball tournaments and a brunch. One of the best events taking place over the weekend is the Dachshund invitational – which features German Dachshunds racing for treats. Enjoy all of the normal Oktoberfest traditions as well – great brats, outfits, polka, and of course – lots and lots of beer. It’s free to get in, with different VIP packages available.

4. Red Rocks Oktoberfest – Saturday, October 26

Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Rd

If you’re looking for an excuse to getaway over the weekend and also want to drink some beer, the Red Rocks Oktoberfest up in Sedona is the perfect way to do both. There are a ton of local breweries that will be serving up craft beers, from Oak Creek Brewing Co. to Mother Road Brewing. The festival will even be serving some mead, kombucha, and wine varieties. Enjoy a range of food trucks and live band performances that include traditional German polka. General admission is $25 online, which includes a stein and beer tokens. You can grab a ticket for $30 at the gate, but the mug and tokens aren’t included (so it’s good to buy early).
