Relatively new and unquestionably gorgeous, Prescott Valley, Arizona, was founded in 1964 as a retirement community, eight miles east of Prescott, which it has since lapped in population growth. In fact, Prescott Valley was the seventh fastest-growing place among all cities and towns in Arizona between 1990 and 2000, with a current population of 45,515. The town is now the retail and service center of the Prescott Metropolitan Area. 

If you’re looking for fresh air, starry night skies, and an opportunity for an invigorating hike, a jaunt from Phoenix to Prescott Valley may be your perfect day-trip getaway.

Directions from Phoenix to Prescott Valley

Prescott Valley is located about 100 miles north of Phoenix. To get there, take I-17 North to Exit 262. Then, take AZ-69 North to Prescott Valley. The drive takes approximately 90 minutes and is worth it for the jaw-dropping vistas alone.

Hiking trails

There are many great hiking trails in Prescott Valley, ranging from easy to difficult. The most popular trails include the Glassford Summit Trail, the Constellation Trail, and the Lynx Lake Trail.

Prescott Valley Art Festival

The Prescott Valley Art Festival is a yearly event that features local artists and musicians and family-friendly festivities.

Prescott Valley Rodeo

The Prescott Valley Rodeo is a yearly event, billed as the world’s oldest rodeo, with competitions and other activities.

Main Street

Main Street is the primary commercial artery in Prescott Valley and is home to many of the community’s anchor businesses.

Fain Park 

With a playground, a basketball court, and a picnic area, Fain Park is a welcoming place to laze for a few hours.

Antelope Hills Golf Course 

18 holes and spectacular scenery.

Glassford Summit Trail

This hiking trail in is 3.5 miles long. It is considered to be moderate in difficulty.

Lynx Lake

Popular for fishing and hiking and draws a balanced mix of locals and out-of-towners.

Constellation Trail

The Constellation Trail is a more challenging hiking trail, 4.5 miles in length.

Findlay Toyota Center

The Findlay Toyota Center is a shopping center in Prescott Valley that is home to many businesses, including a Toyota dealership, and hosts sports and shows (Alice Cooper is playing this month!).

Prescott Valley Event Center

This multi-purpose facility hosts concerts, conventions, and sporting events.

Prescott Valley Mountain Valley Splash

This water park in Prescott Valley boasts a lazy river, slides, a pool, and a convivial, family-friendly vibe.

Prescott Valley is a lovely place to visit, play, and explore. There are many things to do in the area, including hiking, shopping, and attending events, and the mountain views make it a pleasure to navigate on your own, with no itinerary in mind.
