Whether you’re just starting out in a relationship or have been married for years, planning a date night can get repetitive and monotonous. You can only do dinner and a movie so many times, why not shake things up and get outside to appreciate the beauty of the terrain surrounding Phoenix? We’ve rounded up six romantic hike ideas, low-to-medium difficulty treks that promise great views and comfortable terrain.

Guided night hike in McDowell Mountain Regional Park

Head out on a post-Sunset hike through the Sonoran desert with a focus on spotting nocturnal creatures like owls, nightjars, scorpions, and other desert denizens. This three mile, relatively low impact guided walk  meets monthly at the North Trailhead, and is a good way for couples to dip their toes into exploring the beauty that lies just outside downtown Phoenix. 16300 McDowell Mountain Park Dr, Fort McDowell, AZ

Hole-in-the-Rock Trail in Papago Park

There’s a reason this is many Phoenicians go-to trail to bring out of town visitors: it’s a quick, low-effort walk that pays off massive dividends with great views and a stunning rock formation. Couples looking to grab a few romantic pictures for Instagram or a quick activity on a double date could do worse than this accessible, straightforward trip. 625 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ

Lost Dog Wash Trail

This 4.4 mile loop is a fairly popular spot for outdoorsy types looking for a scenic, moderately challenging trek that still takes less than two hours. Expect spectacular views from the McDowell mountains and a journey full of potential wildlife sightings, but be aware that there’s not much shade to be had on this trek, so bringing plenty of water is a must! 12601 N. 124th St. Scottsdale, AZ

Double Butte Loop Trail in Papago Park

Most folks can complete this popular trail in the Northwestern area of Papago Park in less than an hour, covering the 2.2 miles with ease. A great spot to introduce the dog (or kids) to the joys of hiking, the wide trails and gorgeous scenery make this a quality entry point for newcomers of all shapes and sizes. 625 N Galvin Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ

Telegraph Pass

Explore one of the most popular trails in the Ahwatukee foothills, a moderately difficult, 2.2 mile hike that is a mix of paved road trails and a brief stretch of stone steps. Your stair climbing efforts will be rewarded by plenty of gorgeous views of Ahwatukee and downtown Phoenix, a swoon-worthy vista from early morning through sundown. 14251 S Desert Foothills Pkwy, Phoenix, AZ

Sunrise hike at Lookout Mountain Trail
